Cooking Rice
Rice is a type of food that covers many different cultures. It is most well known for Chinese and Japanese dishes though. They eat fried or white rice with just about every single meal. Spanish rice is popular with the Mexican culture. There is also Cajun rice and sweet rice for those that want something for dessert.
There are plenty of different ways to cook rice. You Can find recipes for it in books and online. It goes well with so many main dishes that it is a common side dish in many homes. Rice is very inexpensive too so it can help you to stretch the family budget for meals. You can cook rice on the stove or in a special type of cooker for it. The process will really depend on how much rice you want as well as how you want to prepare it.
If you really enjoy rice you should give some new recipes a try. Simply frying rice, adding some garlic salt, adding some butter, and letting it soften is delicious by itself. There are plenty of nutrients in rice too so you won’t get all the fat that you do with other side dishes. Rice also fills you up faster so people tend to eat less of it.
In some cultures it is normal to each dry rice. This is mainly in various underdeveloped countries. For most parts of the world though rice is cooked or steamed. You need to make sure you don’t over cook rice though. This will result in it becoming very gooey and sticky. Many restaurants that serve steamed rice or fried rice add a small amount of egg to it in order to prevent it from sticking.
Rice grows on plants in large fields mainly in climates that are tropical in nature. Asia and Africa are the locations where most of the rice for the world is grown. In order for rice to grow there needs to be large amounts of rainfall so you can’t just grow it anywhere. As long as there is plenty of water and moisture in the air rice can grow in poor soil. It can even grow in rocky regions and along hills.
