You can buy a large quantity of rice for a very low price without having to compromise quality. A good rice steamer will run you about $60 but you will get years of use out of it. You can enjoy quality rice all you want and it will constantly come out perfect every time.

For those families that make rice as part of their meals on a regular basis, a steam is an item that is very necessary in the home. Look for one that features a timer as well as several settings for it. This way you can make different types of rice with the steamer. You can also try new things with it until you come up with the process that works best for you. Some people prefer their rice stickier than others.

Many people buy a rice steamer because they want it to do all of the work for them. This involves placing the rice in there, pushing the right buttons, and they having terrific rice. Yet you can do your part to help ensure that it comes out well. Start by washing the rice and then allowing it to soak. Washing the rice even though it has been processed and packaged is very important.

Continue washing it until the water runs clear before you allow it to soak in clean water. You only want to add approximately ¼ of a cup of water for each cup of rice. You want to let it soak until it puffs up. This should be done in 20 minutes or less. It is a good idea to plug in the rice steamer while your rice is soaking. This way it will be warm when you place the rice inside of it.

After the rice has finished steaming many people want to immediately open the lid. Don’t be tempted to do this. Instead let the rice stay in there for about 15 minutes before you open it. Turn it to the warm selector so it will remain hot. This way you can get delicious tasting rice every time from your steamer.
